About Us

The Walter E. Boehm Birth Defects Center, a non-profit organization located at Children's Hospital at Erlanger's main campus in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is dedicated to providing a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary medical program for children born with congenital birth defects of the central nervous system, including spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

With a dedicated office staff and volunteer physicians, the Center offers over 970 patients across the Southeast the necessary medical, financial and psycho-social services that patients and their families need.

We recognize that neural tube defects affect entire family and caregiver systems and that the financial, emotional and physical burdens accumulate over a lifetime. We offer the multi-tiered support and a positive outlook to make a difference in their lives.
